Humpback giving birth in front of us
This first photo doesn’t look like much but it is actually moments after a mother humpback whale has given birth. She nudges the calf to the surface and after a worrying minute it takes its first breathe and starts swimming happily. Only moments later it looks to start feeding from mum. We were very privileged to watch it all unfold and were all buzzing after. Also some great fish caught – love this time of year
Young passion for fishing
This is Lockie and he landed a 4.5kg snapper on yesterdays’ full day charter. This young mans passion and knowledge for fishing (both species and techniques) would surpass nearly all his age, and probably a lot of adults too! Who knows one day we all might be watching him host his own fishing show. An absolute pleasure having you aboard mate.
Whale watching while your fishing… June 2017
Hi All here are a couple of pics from the past few days….Some great weather and more of it to come this week. Kids having a ball fishing and whale watching as well as sighting turtles and dolphins playing on the surface. I’m loving this time of year.
Big Jew fish May 2017
Some photos from today’s 1/2 day charter – big jew fish or mulloway, school mackerel, tusk fish, pearl perch, squire, moses perch and hussar in glass out conditions. The great spell of weather we are having at the moment looks to last for another week at least.
Coral trout – 2nd May 2017
Some of our recent catches over the past few trips, not the numbers we were getting a couple of weeks back but the quality is fantastic- coral trout, blue maori cod, cobia to 6kg, pearl perch to 60cm, tusk fish, heaps of spangled emperor and sweet lip around, mackerel, moses perch and yellowfin tuna. The weather hasn’t made things easy but its been worth it. Going up on the slip next week for some planned maintenance and paint, so getting a head start as you can see by the colour of the roof in the photos. https://www.facebook.com/topcatchcharters/photos/pcb.1513736825323755/1513730488657722/?type=3&theater

10th April 2017
The weather finally eased enough for us to get out yesterday, our first day since cyclone Debbie gave the east coast a hiding and first day for the Easter holidays’. We were out for a morning 3/4 day and an afternoon 1/2 day and the fish were chewing on both trips – cobia up to 17kg, trout to 6kg, plenty of quality tusk fish, spangled emperor, moses perch, cod and sweetlip just to name a few. Very happy punters who now have their good friday feast sorted. https://www.facebook.com/topcatchcharters/photos/pcb.1486770731353698/1486762601354511/?type=3&theater
March 2017
Non-stop action today!! here are some pics from our 7hr trip. great fishing – cobia, tusk fish, sweetlip, pearl perch, trevally, small kingy’s and even bagged out on squire in the 36 to 43cm range. Lost some bigger ones to sharks on the light gear with plastics and floating down strips of squid in the berley trail. Cant wait for this weather to pass and get back into them! https://www.facebook.com/topcatchcharters/photos/pcb.1472542749443163/1472531339444304/?type=3&theater
