Went out for a half day trip on Saturday afternoon where the water was still a little bit lumpy but didn’t effect the fishing to much. Tuskfish were once again the main course on the menu with plenty being caught around the 1 to 2.5kg mark. Sunday we had excellent conditions and took Anthony and his family out for a full day trip to the barwon banks. Svetko also joined us and brought one of his mates along. The fishing was steady with plenty being caught. The boys got onto some nice Tuskies plus some good size Moses Perch before being bust off by something big. Possibly a couple of Yellowtail Kingys swimming by. On the way home there was still plenty of action with whales being spotted breaching everywhere and also dolphins playing in the boats wake. The crabbing was fairly average and can always be a bit tricky to find this time of the year even though we had a good haul of big size crabs the day before. Gives us a ring to make a booking and make the most of this lovely weather.
Mon 5 July
Been a busy couple of weeks and a bit slow on my reports but this will bring us up to date.We have had a number of charters and some great fish landed. The highlights have been the Barra Jacks evening trip we did out to the banks, the fishing was steady without being spectacular but conditions were perfect and Ben and James from Barra Jacks kept us entertained as well as showing us some new tackle,we might make these a regular event and I recommend them to anyone. The Snapper have been appearing in increasing numbers on the Caloundra 9 & 12 mile reefs and we landed 12 nice size fish on one charter including a 10kg monster, but the highlight fish of the past fortnight has to be the snodger 7 kg coral trout landed by Dirk, a visitor from Germany who didn’t speak much English but managed to convey his feelings about landing this excellent fish.Have a look at this fish on our gallery page, its awesome!.
The snapper are around in good numbers and we have got some great marks ,so if you would like to come out and get amongst them give us a call.
Saturday 12 June
Went out for a full day to the Barwon Banks where the water was a little bit lumpy but calmed down soon enough after we dropped the pick. The fishing was pretty exciting with some good sized Tuskies and small Snapper caught. We also had a few HUGE runs on the baitcasters where we couldn’t turn the beast and were almost spooled numerous times until being busted off. After this we decided to upgrade to our heavier gamefishing tackle and soon enough one of the boys was hooked up on to a monster Hightail Amberjack weighing around 25kg that took a good 10mins to bring to the boat. After it was gaffed and safely stored inside the esky the game rod went off again. This time a huge Bronze Whaler Shark weighing more than 60kg was eventually brought to the boat and released safely. Soon after we served up some lunch and motored home while spotting whales, dolphins and plenty of birdlife. All in all another top day out!
Monday 7 June.
Fishing was a bit hit and miss this past week.Thursday we went out to the Banks with Alan and his crew.Caught a good variety of fish including a huge diamond trevally. We came home with a good feed and the action was steady but not on fire.Top Catch was a beautiful green jobfish at 2 1/2 kg.We snuck out Saturday and as expected the strong offshore winds held us in close where conditions were good though the fish were not in the mood to bite.Undersize squire are everywhere and few legal fish were active. To confuse us further Sunday was really busy, we did a 1/2 day and Robert”s gang of Kiwi”s had a great morning.A good feed of fish including mobile casino some nice Maori Cod,good haul of crabs, Whales ,Dolphins and joined the flotilla to welcome Jess Watson home on the way back in.You cant get better than that on a 5 hour trip.
Bookings available next weekend.Give us a call or email.
Monday 31 May
The Pearl Perch are on the march. We headed out Saturday and started the day catching a lot of undersize fish and shifted a couple of times till we found where the larger ones were and boated some nice fish around the 3 kg mark.Jay had the Top Catch on the day with a snodger coral trout and 2 pearl perch around 21/2 kg.Sunday dawned with good conditions despite the forecast and again we worked our way through the undersize fish to land a number of good pearlies and snapper for Shannons birthday crew.Top Catch was 2 nice Maori Cod tipping the scales at 4 kg.We ran an evening trip as well and though we caught some good size Maori Cod and 2 beautiful Red Emperor they were just undersize and had to be returned.Greg scored a nice Snapper and conditions were perfect.
Wednesday 19 May
Love this Autumn weather!Friday was a 3/4 day to the Caloundra 12 mile in perfect conditions. The 2 Sue’s outfished their husbands who threatened to leave them at home next time and Pat showed her sons how its done with a nice Pearlie at 3 kg.Fishing was steady with good size Tuskies and a couple of nice Snapper.Saturday was a half day in close in perfect conditions again but it was harder to get the fish to bite.Managed to boat some nice moses and pearlies and everyone took home a fish, who could complain with conditions so good.
Have a full day to the Banks on Saturday and spots available
Monday 10th May
Good bottom fishing all week, Saturdays trip was unfortunately postponed due to bad weather but we snuck out Sunday and fished in close around Currimundi Reef with Joel and his team where we caught some good size Snapper up to the 3kg mark. A lot of juvenile Squire went back, good signs for the coming season. When the wind eased we ran out to the 9 mile reef and landed some good Tuskies and a real nice Spangled Emperor before heading home.
Took Chris and his crew out to the 9 mile reefs today where we caught plenty of fish off the bottom including some nice Pearlies, Maori Cod, Tuskfish, and the top catch of the week, an awesome 8kg Estuary Cod that smashed one of our secret baits… Weather looks good for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Spots available on all trips, give us a call.
Monday 3rd May
A week of weather contrasts this week. Thursday saw us on a full day to the banks. Conditions were perfect with a lot of bait on the surface on the way out. Ellis landed a nice 10 kg Spaniard and Mark boated a magnificent 3 kg TuskFish and a nice green jobfish around 2 kg. The fish were on the bite and wisely the boys only kept enough for a feed. Saturday we finally got Nick and his crew out after a couple of weather delays. We fished the 12 mile and were busy all day. The trophy fish was a nice Maori Cod which tipped the scales at 4 kg! Also caught an awesome Coral Trout. Sunday we did a 1/2 day trip to the 9 mile and conditions were a little rolly so tried to stay in close.Missed a couple of nice runs on the live bait rods and we suspect the Cobia may be lurking. Some nice size Pearlies and Tuskies and a good morning despite the rolly sea. Hope to get a trip together Wednesday so give us a call.
Monday April 26
Great to get back out on the water again.Full day out to the Banks on Saturday and managed to hook plenty of fish though a lot not legal.Finished with a good number of tuskfish and squire and a 2.5 kg gold spot wrasse.Couple of Justin’s boys had a big night before and probably regretted it!.Always wise to not drink and limit spicy food before heading out to open ocean.
Sunday was a 3/4 down to the 9 mile and conditions were perfect.Landed some nice pearlies to about 2 kg and again a few nice tuskies.Crabs in huge numbers and we only kept the largest.A good day all round.
Couple of trips on this week and spots available ,forecast looks good so give us a call.
